DO-IT-YOURSELF BUCKET SPECIAL
We think everyone should have fresh flowers! That’s why we offer DIY bridal buckets of the freshest seasonal blooms in our field from July through September. Each bucket includes a mix of focal, filler, foliage, and accent blooms, and contains an average of 70-80 stems per bucket. Each 5 gallon bucket contains enough material to fill 5-8 wide mouth quart mason jars.
Farmer’s Choice Bucket: $85 - A beautiful and cohesive selection of flowers with colors and style chosen by our growers to highlight what the farm has to offer.
Buyer’s Choice Bucket: $110 - Choose your preference of palettes. Let us know what colors to avoid and which to include and we will do our best to match your requests with what we grow at Flutterby.
DESIGN BASICS AND TIPS
Keep it simple: Even the most casual professional arrangements require a lot of practice and skill to create. But arrangements made by loving hands can be just as eye-catching and even more special!
Do your research: Use DIY resources like Pinterest and YouTube to research the basics on DIY design. This will help you place your order, plan what materials you need, and give you some confidence for the big day. Consider picking up a “Practice Bucket” from the farm to get some experience.
Calculate your flower needs: Depending on how lush your table arrangements are, the flowers from one of our buckets will fill 5-8 quart-sized mason jars. Small bud vases may have 1-3 stems per jar and a bucket would likely fill 30 or more. Wedding couple bouquets typically contain a stem count of 20-50 and attendant bouquets a range of 15-40.
Materials: Depending on what you are envisioning, you will need scissors or snips, floral tape, wire, pins, and vases. Most materials can be easily obtained from craft and garden stores!
Timing is everything: Make sure that you have adequate space, time, and help. Bringing your family and friends together to make arrangements is a great way to get people involved in your event! Even with many hands, be sure you allocate several hours to bouquet making and clean up.
Keep it clean: use only sterilized vases and scissors and clean fresh water.
Once assembled, bouquets will retain vibrancy best when stored in a cooled space in a vase of fresh water.
PICK UP
You can pick up your flowers at our location in Baxter Springs, KS. We are located 15 miles West of Joplin, MO and 20 miles North of Miami, OK.
Flowers should look great for three days (and up to a week with proper care), but we recommend picking up your flowers as close to the time you want to arrange them as you can. Flowers will be fresh, hydrated and ready to work with. We usually schedule pickups Fridays between 10am and 12pm, but will try to accommodate your schedule for your big weekend.
Three buckets can fit in the backseat of a car, but a station wagon, van or SUV work best for larger orders.
Store flowers out of the wind in a cool, dark place with adequate water. A cool room or shady porch usually works well.
FAQ
When can I buy DIY Bridal Buckets?
DIY Buckets are available July- September, this is the peak of our growing season ensuring you will have a large variety of flowers. You will choose your pick up date at checkout.
Does buying Flutterby DIY flowers mean I have to make my own bouquets and boutonnieres, etc?
Not at all. Just remember it isn’t all or nothing: you can have a florist or designer make your ceremony flowers and arrange your own reception flowers using Flutterby Flowers. While bridal floral design is not a service that we provide, we can help you make those connections. We recommend Abbey Hill at ahfloralco.com
If I pick up my flowers on Friday, will they last until Saturday?
Don’t worry, you don’t need to keep your flowers in the fridge. Just keep them out of the sun and wind and away from pets. A dark, air-conditioned room is best away from pets, fruit, and children. As long as the flowers have lots of fresh water they will last through your wedding weekend no problem.
Do you deliver?
You can pick up your flowers at the farm or, for a fee, we will deliver within Cherokee, Jasper, and Newton Counties as well as to Ottawa and Crawford. If you need delivery outside of this area, please contact us to see if we can come up with a creative solution to meet your needs. There is a $400 minimum order for delivery.
What kinds of flowers are in a bucket?
We pick you a mix of the freshest flowers in bloom that week. The exact combination of flowers varies based on what is in bloom that week.
Do your buckets contain foliage too?
Yes they do, but if you are interested in more we offer an $85 foliage bucket that is separate from our DIY flower bucket. This is a popular add-on with our DIY clients.
How many buckets do I need for my wedding?
Our buckets each contain 70-80 stems of fresh flowers. How many arrangements that makes depends on your specific style, but most people will fill 5-8 wide-mouth quart mason jars from each bucket.
What do I need to arrange the flowers?
Arranging flowers is fun to do with your friends. For a fun and stress-free experience, allow yourselves a few hours, have some helpers, and make sure you have access to water, good scissors or clippers, and a place to dispose of your leaves and stem trimmings.
Am I crazy to take this on right before my wedding?
Not at all. Arranging your own flowers is a fun way to spend time with friends or family. Many brides enjoy having flower-arranging parties with their girlfriends as part of the wedding events. Just make sure you allow plenty of time and space so you are able to enjoy yourselves. We recommend a bottle of champagne and a classic 80’s rock mixtape.
Are DIY buckets only available to brides?
Heck no! You can buy a bucket for any and all special events that you are hosting. DIY buckets are a great idea for class reunions, anniversary celebrations, real estate staging, fundraising galas, art exhibit openings, etc. Fresh flowers elevate every occasion.
